On September 29, 2018, the Prestige Dancers performed to a crowd of 300 for the Affinia Healthcare’s Starburst Gala at the STIFEL Theater (Peabody Opera House). A fun time was had by all. The guests were so thrilled with the dance performances that they recorded most of the dances and 2 beginner programs sold quickly in the live auction following the dancing. For the performers, it was an amazing experience to perform on a stage that has hosted so many stars of the entertainment world and in a theater that is iconic for St. Louis. The Prestige Ballroom Dancers performed Tango, Cha Cha, Waltz, Rumba,Viennese Waltz, and Foxtrot. Our studio ham, Matt Morgan, was the emcee for the performances. In order not to miss even the smallest opportunity to sing in the STIFEL Theater, Catherine had to belt out a few measures from an opera!

Our new studio manager and instructor, Catherine Griffith, with Christine Brewer, Grammy award winning opera singer, at their concert for the American Chamber Chorale in May.
We are pleased to announce Catherine Griffith as one of our new ballroom instructors and the new studio manager. Catherine joined the studio in early April. In addition to a degree in vocal music, she has undergrad and graduate degrees in biology and history, but dance is her first love. Being able to share dance is a great joy in her life, and performing dance is a sublime experience. In addition to ballroom, she has ballet, tap, jazz, musical theater, and many other styles to her credit. She is thrilled to be dancing as a part of the Prestige community!

As we say all the time, “We love our wedding couples!” As a tribute to some of our favorite dancers, we are going to begin chronicling the first dance journey. From the time a couple comes into the studio for their Wedding First Dance consult to the last lesson of tweeking the dance right before the big day, we see beautiful stories of love and expression.
Couples come in nervous and their expectations of themselves are low. We often hear, “Just keep us from falling on each other,” or “I can’t keep a beat,” or “I’m hopeless when it comes to dance.” After that first consult with us at Prestige Ballroom Dancing, the comments are already starting to change. “Wow! We can do this!” “This is going to be so much better than I imagined!” “I can do the dip at the end?!?”
As the instructors work with the couples to build the steps and look that the soon-to-be newlyweds now imagine, we see couples learn to work with each other in ways they haven’t before. We find that our couples enjoy the lessons as much for the private time they are getting to share away from the craziness of life and wedding preparation as they do for the dancing. Over the course of the lessons, we see awkwardness turn to grace in more ways and places than on the dance floor.
These stories and experiences are so moving to us that, with the permission of the couples, we want to share them with you. So, stay tuned! And, if you want your First Wedding Dance to be a part of this journey, sign up foryour wedding consultation today!
