Karina Was Here!
Karina came, she saw, and she danced! Prestige Ballroom Dancing had an incredible time with Karina Smirnoff! On Thursday morning, September 20, Karina met us with a smile and a hug even though she had been traveling from Singapore for two days with layovers in Tokyo and LA. For the next two days she choreographed multiple dances and taught two incredible group classes in Rumba and Cha Cha. The Prestige Dancers now have some pretty awesome Cuban movement!
It was fun to watch her work. She would hear a song and choreography would flow. She used counts, lyrics, and music to choreograph, changing from one to the next based on what movement she was trying to express. She choreographed Cha Cha, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Bolero, East Coast Swing, and Samba, and she took no prisoners! She expected each student to perform like a dancer on DWTS. We were all amused by her saying, "Don't worry! It's easy!" She used that saying in each dance while describing how someone was supposed to be lifted while spinning or holding splits mid-air. It's a good thing we planned a few months to learn these dances for the winter showcase! So join us in January to see the amazing things she choreographed for us!
