Preparing The Choreography
5… 6… 7… 8… That is how most instructors or choreographers start the count to the first step of the dance. The routines start with a song, and then a dance style. From there the choreographer maps out steps and patterns to fit the music. Once the choreography is set all that is left to do is practice and prepare!
This past March, Ilya Reyzin spent 2 days at Prestige Ballroom working with students and planning out their routines for our Summer Showcase! Ilya has been dancing since he was 5 years old, and has been competing, judging, or coaching ever since. Each of the performers spent about an hour and a half with Ilya while watching Ilya choreograph and teach them their routines. Several of the performers have shared with us what it was like for them to work with a world class coach and judge. Here is what they said:
