4 Minutes of Fame or 4 Minutes of Shame! How dance Lessons can Save Your Wedding – Classic Wedding Mistakes

Matt Morgan

One of the biggest “classic wedding mistakes” stories I hear when I talk to couples is that they wish that they had taken dance lessons.  It doesn’t matter if they are recently married or have been for years. There are several different reason that always come up, so I started compiling a list. Here are the top reasons couples always say they wish they had gotten dance lessons for their wedding

4. They turned out to be more nervous then they thought

Most people don’t think that the first dance is that big of a deal; they think that it’s just a dance – how hard could it be. They think this until the moment actually comes. When the time actually comes and the music starts, most people realize that they are surprisingly more nervous than they previously thought. The confidence that was there at the beginning fades as they realize that they don’t really know how to dance. This leads to just some simple swaying for four whole minutes with everyone’s eyes on you, which is no fun at all.

3. They looked bad while they they danced

There are some nightmare stories out there about dancing. You don’t here them often, but they exist. Where you are out dancing and things are going good, the groom starts feeling a little overconfident, tries to mix it up and spin the bride, and she falls. Is it the end of the world – no – but most people want to avoid this if possible. In fact, the fear of this happening pushes people to play it safe when they dance, and again just sway back and forth through the duration of their song. While this will definitely avoid any embarrass trips or falls, it doesn’t really look very good. It’s kind of dull, and a reason a lot of people wish they would have taken dance lessons beforehand.

2. They didn’t think they would care but they did

Many couples say that when planning their wedding they thought about taking lessons. That they knew they didn’t really know how to dance, and while they realized that it would be a little boring they didn’t think they would care. However, whenever the moment actually came, they felt a little differently. They wished they knew a few steps and looked good in front of all of their family and friends.

1. Looking back they wish they would have looked better for videos

When looking back on their weddings many couples say that they felt in the moment that they should have gotten dance lessons, but that feeling is very fleeting. Once the dance is over the feeling passes and the rest of the night goes on without a hitch. However, something that still repeatedly comes up is that they wished they had taken them for the memory. Yea you want to look good for all of your family and friends, but at the end of the day, it is a once in a lifetime moment that you get to spend with the person of your dreams, and a lot of people regret passing up the opportunity to make that memory. Many couples say that they wish they would have taken lessons so they could record the dance and always have those four minutes to look back on.
