Our annual Summer Dance Showcase: Bubbles & Bliss 2015 was held at Prestige Ballroom on the evening of June 13th.
As guests arrived, they were greeted at the door and escorted to their seats. Once everyone began filling in, many found their way to our delicious hors d’oeuvres table. We even had a special sweet treat waiting for them!
After all of our guests had arrived it was time to hit the dance floor for a fun beginner lesson! Instructors David and Jaysa taught guests introductory steps for a Foxtrot, Waltz, Rumba and East Coast Swing. Soon it was time to turn the party lights on and put those new dance moves to use!
After more dancing, food and fun it was the moment we had all been waiting for – the Pro/Am Performances! The first five dance numbers performed at Bubbles & Bliss 2015 were choreographed by 2012 Rhythm Showdance Champion, Anna Harwood. Ms. Harwood will be back at Prestige Ballroom on August 20th to choreograph routines for any of our students and staff that would like to participate in our Rat Pack Red Carpet Gala. The Gala will be held at Prestige Ballroom on December 12, 2015 – so, save the date!
First, Carol and Josiah stunned guests with an elegant Rumba performed to “Just the Way You Are” by Boyce Avenue. This pair really knew how to start the showcase off on the right foot – pun intended. The next number was a sexy Tango performed by Jaysa and David to “Santa Maria” by The Gotan Project. Next, Dr. Nancy and David performed a unique Rumba/Samba combo to “Jamaican Wine” by Adelante. This performance had a special meaning for Dr. Nancy since it was dedicated to the memory of Natalie Friedman. Dr. Nancy’s dedication: “This performance is dedicated to the memory of Natalie Friedman, who passed away on March 19, 2015 from Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. Natalie danced through life, bringing joy to all who knew her and was like a second mother to me, always inspiring me to see the best in the world and follow my passion! A donation equal to twice the number of people at this event will be made in her memory to the PSP foundation.”
Following their routine, Hannah and David gave us goose bumps when they performed a very tender, heartfelt Bolero to “Never Let Me Go” by Florence and the Machine. Dancers Nicki and Josiah, left us speechless with a gorgeous Waltz performed to “Open Arms” by Journey. The final performance of the evening transported guests to the deepest jungles of Africa, where our intrepid explorer, Lori, searched for her mysterious jungle man, Tarzan…aka David. The pair kept us all smiling as they performed a fun Cha Cha to “Pa’Sentirnos Bien” by Da’Zoo and choreographed by Ron Montez.
Awards, prizes and more!
After our one-of-a-kind floor show, we still had more surprises in store. First, we held our Awards and Graduation Ceremony in order to recognize our: Beginner Program Graduates, Social Foundation Program Graduates, Bronze I Graduates, Bronze II Graduates and Bronze III Graduates. Congratulations to you all – keep up the great work!
Following our ceremony, three lucky guests found gift certificates hidden underneath their chairs. As a result, they will each receive their very own pair of custom dance shoes! To conclude the evening, we stayed true to our Prestige Ballroom tradition of a Goodnight Dance in the form of a line dance! With boys on one side and girls on the other – it was time to Merengue!
Our team at Prestige Ballroom would like to thank all of our guests as well as our performers for making Bubbles & Bliss 2015 such a success. We hope you all had as much fun as we did. Stop by and dance with us again soon!
